Stick bread

 

The stick bread is a classic. On bike tours, hiking tours or at home - the stick bread can be baked with just a few ingredients and it tastes delicious.

 

Ingredients

  • 500 g flour (type 405)

  • 250 ml of lukewarm water

  • 1 pack of dry yeast

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 teaspoons of salt

  • 1 pinch of sugar

 

 

Step by step

  1. Carefully mix the dry ingredients for the stick bread from the grill in a bowl, then stir in the water and olive oil.

  2. Knead all of the ingredients until you have a smooth dough.

  3. Let the dough rise in a covered bowl for at least half an hour, until the dough has doubled in volume.

  4. Divide the dough into 8 portions, knead the individual portions into a ball and cover again.

  5. For grilling, shape a portion of dough into a long sausage and wrap it around a peeled branch tip.

  6. Hold the branch about 20 cm above the embers and turn slowly until the stick bread is golden brown.
